Gunnison Tough Bull Fest brought over 1,300 people

Saturday, August 15, at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds, the Gunnison Tough Bull Fest brought an action-packed evening of Western entertainment to the Gunnison Valley, combining family-friendly activities, impressive horsemanship, bullfighting, bull riding and live music—all in support of Gunnison Tough’s mission. Over 1,300 people attended the event.  

The evening began with the Barnyard Olympics and Mutton Bustin’, where some of the youngest competitors took their turn in the arena and provided plenty of entertainment for the crowd. An unexpected sheep escape added a little extra excitement and a memorable moment to the evening.  

As the night continued, spectators were treated to American bullfighting and heart-pounding bull riding, with competitors showcasing their skill, athleticism, and courage in the arena. The Latigos Up Drill Team also performed, bringing precision horsemanship and Western tradition to the Bull Fest lineup.  

Following the arena events, John King and his band took the stage to close out the evening with live music, giving attendees a chance to dance, visit, and enjoy the summer night.  

The event brought together families, volunteers, competitors, sponsors, and supporters for an evening celebrating the Western spirit of the Gunnison Valley while supporting Gunnison Tough’s mission: to provide comprehensive cancer support to individuals and families in Gunnison and Hinsdale counties.
